The science classes have a lot of unique and interesting technology. These pieces of technology are very useful in the science department. Many people have never heard of any of these devices, but they are used multiple times a year in these classes. However, with proper knowledge of these devices, understanding the science field will become much easier!

Autoclave: An Autoclave is a device that uses high temperature and pressure steam to sterilize lab equipment. This machine is extremely useful, because if chemicals are on the equipment, then it could completely change a specific experiment. 

Incubator: The Incubator is a machine that takes streak plates of DNA to stimulate the optimum environment at a specific temperature. Many people use DNA samples from money, doorknobs, and many other places that contain DNA.

Microcentrifuge: A Microcentrifuge is a machine that spins at a high frequency to separate particles of a given substance. A microcentrifuge can be very useful in a crime scene. The police could find hair or other objects with DNA and use the microcentrifuge to determine who the culprit is. 

Electrophoresis: An Electrophoresis chamber is a piece of technology that is very useful for testing DNA samples. This machine can recognize patterns in a sample of DNA. The machine will dye specific electrons, depending on whether or not it has a positive or negative charge. After this, the machine will forcibly separate DNA, RNA, and proteins in the sample. This is very useful for forensics testing, paternity testing, DNA testing, and many more situations.

 

Spectrometer: A Spectrometer is a device used to look at the unique patterns of stars, and see the different wavelengths of light. The machine views ultraviolet and infrared radiation to separate the different wavelengths of light.  

The Still: The still is a useful device for purifying water. The still pulls in tap water and removes all purifiers and other minerals from the water. This is useful for labs that require pure water because any minerals in the water could alter the outcome of the lab.
