Lost Password? Don’t Fear, Recovery is Still an Option!

Lost Password? Don’t Fear, Recovery is Still an Option!

Passwords are an extremely important and useful way of helping everyone stay safe online. However, forgetting a password could seem life-changing. Losing a password could be losing credit card information, loss of contacts, and much more. However, if you follow simple guidelines, then you will be able to recover your password with ease.

Non-Email Recovery
Recovery for passwords other than emails is significantly easier than email recovery. In most login forms, there is an option you can choose if you forgot your password. This will most likely have you enter your email for a confirmation. Then, they will send you an email for password recovery. By visiting the link they sent you, you will be able to set a new password for your account. Some websites might also ask you to prove you are not a robot by filling out a Captcha.

Email Recovery
Email recovery is significantly more difficult than recovery for other products. First, similar to other products, you can hit the “Forgot Password” option. If you have changed your password in the past, then it will first ask you to enter the last password you remember. If this is correct, then you can move on and enter a new password. If not, then you can try using the phone number method. You can enter your phone number, and receive a text or phone call to reset your password. If this option is unavailable, then you can try to use an associated email that is connected to that email. This will send recovery information to the associated email and help you recover this way. Lastly, you can try to enter in the security question that was asked when creating your account. If all of these methods do not work, then you, unfortunately, will have to talk to a representative of Google to get your password restored. These rigorous steps show how important it is to remember your password.

 How to Avoid Password Recovery
The best tip to avoiding password recovery is to take note of your passwords. Many people use only one password for many accounts, but this is incredibly dangerous. This is dangerous, because if a hacker is able to find the password of one of your accounts, then they could be in control of all of your personal information. The most secure way to do this is to think of different passwords for every account and record them down. If you do not want to write down a different password for every different account, then you could try to add a sequence of letters or numbers after a different password. This may seem tedious, but this could be life-saving, and save you from having your information stolen.

Passwords are a very important tool to help everyone stay safe online. Forgetting passwords could seem life-changing, and change your life forever. However, if you stay proactive by creating secure passwords, then having your password stolen is nearly impossible. Even though it might seem annoying to make a new password for every new account you create, doing this could protect you from having all of your very important information stolen.
